Art Studios

Residents will be assigned to either the Chicken Coop Studio, the Barn Swallow Studio or the Great Horned Owl Studio in the Petronella Barn. Usually artists decide amongst each other which studio would work best for each artist depending on preference, art medium and art size. Your individual studio will be available to you 24/7.

Studios are not insulated nor equipped with heating or air conditioning and can get hot in summer. Using the studios in the cooler hours of the days is recommended. Each resident will also be able to use the cooler basement shared studio in the house as well.

Studios have no running water. However, water containers are provided in each studio. Studios do have up-to-date electrical wiring. Each studio has a table, chair and electric fan. Open fire cannot be used in the studios. Artists need to provide their own art materials.

In the large Petronella barn we are in the process of renovating and to setting up a Charles Brand etching press. Plates, paper and inks need to be provided by the artist.

Please note that insects and small critters can enter the studios and can be a nuisance.

Villekulla Farm has multiple tools and power tools available such as a miter saw, table saw, cordless drill and cordless screw driver, precipitating saw, jigsaw, oscillating saw, circular saw, dremel, finishing nail gun, regular nail gun, air compressor, cordless orbital sander, and electrical sanding machine. Please ask for permission and training before use.
